Project: Garden design (private client)

Location: Glasgow South

This residential garden in the southside of Glasgow was designed and created to give the space a complete re-think. The client had previously commissioned Tom to come up with a planting design for their front garden, and was delighted that they came for help with the back garden! Clean lines, a quirky patio, and careful zoning of the garden have created a space that works on day one, and will gradually mature and improve with each year that passes.

The native Hornbeam hedge planted between the patio and the central garden area will create an intimate socialising area as time goes on, allowing each part of the garden to have its own very clear character, with a garden that is harmonised overall through repeated planting and hard landscape choices.

The existing deck was supplemented with large trough planters that bring life to what was previously a blank space, again creating a distinct zone within the garden, and blurring the indoor/outdoor boundary.
