Project: Garden design (private client)
Location: Glasgow southside
This garden on a new build estate suffered from an awkward slope and very poor soil conditions. The clients required a child-friendly garden that would also allow for a garden office and entertaining areas.
A modern garden office was incorporated in the top corner of the garden, and the garden was terraced using a sweeping Corten steel step. This contemporary way of terracing the garden made it immediately feel bigger, whilst the newly creatwed wide flowerbeds were filled with plants that will in time grow large and lush.
Two new trees were planted that will in time grow large enough to create lush and wildlife-friendly centrepieces to the dense planting below. Clipped Japanes Holly balls (Ilex crenata) were used to complement the lush ornamental grasses and herbaceous plants.
Client testimonial:
“Tom did a fantastic job of helping us transform our slightly drab 'new build' garden (i.e. sparse patch of grass) into a beautiful landscaped garden. He was super patient (despite our total ignorance of anything plantwise) and really helped make the best of the space”
