Finding garden designers in Glasgow
Garden designers are in high demand in Glasgow, and whilst in any normal year summer is busy, the consequences of the lockdown have sent garden design demand through the roof. There are not a huge amount of garden designers in Glasgow, so for those that are based here, work is busy at the moment!
Looking for a landscape gardener in Glasgow?
As we come out of the Covid-19 lockdown many people are looking to find landscape gardeners in Glasgow and finding that they are booked up until the autumn and beyond. This is for the simple reason that when the suppliers closed, and landscape gardeners suddenly could not get hold of materials, all landscape gardening jobs came to a shuddering halt.
How to look after your lawn
Winter is a good time of year to carry out some lawn repairs, though landscape gardeners start thinking about non-essential tasks like this as soon as plant and grass growth has slowed a bit. As a garden designer as well as a landscape gardener I remain busy throughout the year, but being based in Glasgow I take any dry days that I can to carry out potentially muddy tasks like this. We can also touch on other common lawn issues and the essentials of keeping a lawn that doesn’t deteriorate over the years, without going to excessive expense.
How to prune Apple, Pear and Cherry trees
Pruning, especially tree pruning, is something that fills many gardeners with dread, and if you are dealing with a fruit tree or valued shrub, it will be worth looking for professional help. If you are getting in a professional, look for an experienced horticulturist as opposed to someone who only works as a landscape gardener or garden designer. Tom carries out apple, pear and cherry tree pruning in the Glasgow area.
Pruning Wisteria and other winter jobs
Pruning of Wisteria can be an intimidating job, and whilst it needn’t be, let’s get one thing straight – your Wisteria is not going to die if you don’t prune it. With enough space, Wisteria is happy to roam and will continue to flower. However, to get the best from them, and especially if you have limited space, they should be getting pruned twice per year. Although Tom's main services are garden design and landscape gardening in the Glasgow area, he sometimes has time to help with horticultural tasks like this too!
How to plant bare root trees & shrubs
What is bare-root planting? And what are rootball plants? Both are ways of planting trees, hedges and some shrubs (such as roses) in the least costly way you can, and also at the horticulturally best time of year, as the planting process hapens while the plants are dormant over the winter. Bare-root plants arrive with their roots exposed (but in a bag of some sort), and rootballs are used for heavier plants where the roots are encased in soil within a hessian sack. Tom offers the supply and planting of bare-root and rootball hedges and trees in the Glasgow area.
